The Ultimate Screen Clock – Attractive Clock for Your Windows Desktop
The thing I don’t like about the default clock the Windows operating system provides is that it doesn’t have much to offer in the looks and in the functionality department. Sure, if you only want to find out what time it is, you can only direct your eyes to the clock that just sits there in the bottom right hand corner of the monitor. But you will not be directing your eyes onto something that looks very good.
If you want a clock that looks better, then you have to do what I always do – turn to software and see if there is an application out there that can lend a helping hand. The application that can prove to be useful in this situation is the Alchemy Mindworks-developed, the aptly named The Ultimate Screen Clock.
There is much to like about this application. The first thing I liked is that I can position the clock anywhere on the screen. The Windows clock always stays in the bottom right hand corner. The Ultimate Time Clock can be placed anywhere you want. To tell you the truth, I like to have a clock in the left hand side, right above the Start menu (Windows orb). I just like it that way.
The second thing you will like is that you can change the way The Ultimate Time Clock looks – take that default Windows clock. There are a myriad of styles to choose from. There are even animated skins you can choose. And you can use your own custom skins if you want to.
The third thing you are going to like is that you can use The Ultimate Time Clock to see what time it is in some other part of the world. Click the “World time” button and you will be presented with a long list of locations and the time it is in those locations. Select the “Dual time zones” option in the Setup menu and you will be presented with two clocks – one displays the local time, the other displays the time in another part of the world.
The fourth thing you are going to like is that The Ultimate Time Clock provides more functionality than the default Windows clock. Here is what I am talking about:
- A stopwatch and a countdown timer are included in The Ultimate Time Clock
- Set up reminders
- Have The Ultimate Time Clock play a custom sound every hour, every half hour and so on.
- Select one of several startup options. Start The Ultimate Time Clock and have it displays the time, start The Ultimate Time Clock and have it sync your clock, start The Ultimate Time Clock and have it do both these things.
- Access the Windows time and date interface.
- Use The Ultimate Time Clock as your screensaver if you want to.
- Set The Ultimate Time Clock to change its looks automatically at specific intervals of time.
Before you go get The Ultimate Time Clock, take a look at these technical details:
Download – the download weighs in at some 12.6MB.
Installation – The Ultimate Time Clock provides support for XP, Vista and Windows 7.
Limitations – nag screen and annoying audio notification telling you to register. There's also a nag notification window underneath The Ultimate Time Clock that tells you you're using a trial version.
